Directions and map

Hohensalzburg Fortress, the city of Salzburg's landmark, can be seen for miles. The easiest way to travel to Salzburg is by plane or train.

If coming by car, we recommend that you use the Park & Ride parking lots at the Exhibition Center (Messezentrum) or South (Salzburg Süd) and continue to the city center by public bus. If you prefer to drive to the city center we suggest that you use one of the public garages to park. The nearest parking garage is the Altstadtgarage in the Mönchsberg. Additional parking spaces are available in Parkgarage Linzergasse and the Mirabell Garage.

The Fortress is accessed from Kapitelplatz through the Festungsgasse; visitors can choose between the funicular, departing every 10 minutes, or taking a 30-minute walk to the top.
