Experiencing history

Special tours are available for school classes and children's/youth groups as part of the educational museum program to give children and youths more insight into life in the Middle Ages.

1. Festivities at court

On the spectacular journey back to the Middle Ages visitors will see Archbishop Leonhardt von Keutschach in the process of making arrangements for a luxurious banquet. The tour of the castle and the Middle Age Exhibit with the audio guide (special text for children) is followed by the festivities at the archbishop's court.

Children dress up in costumes and act out what they have learned. Afterwards everyone is invited to the banquet, where they will receive a small snack (Keutschach roll and Adam's ale).

Length  approx. 3 hours
Age group  6 - 14 years
Price
 € 7.50 (incl. a small snack)

2. The peel tower is alive

The only peel tower in Europe whose cultural property has been preserved presents scenes on 6 floors to demonstrate how the tower was used during the Middle Ages. A tour of the dungeon, treasure vault, larder and supplies is presented by a knowledgeable guide.

Afterwards life in the tower is acted out: visitors dress up in costumes and are divided into three groups: the master builder's group, supplies in the Middle Ages and the escaping group. The tour ends with a small tower snack featuring bread and Adam's ale.

Length  approx. 3 hours
Age group
