Special tour with a memorable musical finale

Length:  approx. 90 to 120 minutes.

Up to the secularization of Salzburg in 1803, the Residenz was the Salzburg archbishop's worldly center of power. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart often performed in the sumptuously appointed rooms.

The palaces on the western and eastern side of Residenz Square were built under the Archbishops Wolf Dietrich (1587-1612), Markus Sittikus and Paris Lodron (1619-1653).

Famous artists such as Martin Altomonte and Johann Michael Rottmayr provided the furnishings for the thirteen state rooms on the first floor between 1689 and 1711 - while the Baroque Age was flourishing. The elaborate furnishings are one of the Old City's finest examples of its rich cultural heritage to this day.

Before the tour begins, an aperitif (sparkling wine/orange juice) will put you in the right mood. Set off on a one-hour tour of the splendid state rooms together with our experienced tourist guide - who will be glad to answer any questions you may have - and admire the former living quarters and entertainment halls of Salzburg's prince archbishops.

Enjoy the view from the Residenz and let your guide explain the city of Salzburg through the former archbishops' eyes. At the end of the tour, another musical surprise will await you - a lovely concert (including works by W.A. Mozart), only for visitors taking this tour.
